You already know something needs attention.
Refuge gives you wiser ways to think about it — and a safe place to do it.

Why Refuge

More than a journal. A daily practice with 2,000 years of wisdom behind it.

Choose guides from philosophy, contemplative traditions, and therapeutic practice. Each one responds to your entries with the honest, nuanced perspective they spent a lifetime developing.

🏔️
Guides who've been where you are
Marcus Aurelius led through crisis. Seneca rebuilt after losing everything. Camus found joy in the face of meaninglessness. These aren't motivational quotes — they're perspectives earned through experience.
🌿
Therapeutic tools, not therapy jargon
CBT, DBT, ACT, and Jungian frameworks — explained simply and applied to what you actually wrote. Like having a thoughtful friend who happens to understand how your mind works.
🔍
Patterns you can't see alone
Measure your mood trends over time and use what you learn to create better outcomes. Refuge finds what connects your best days and your hardest ones — not just what you feel, but why, and what's quietly changing.
🔒
A space that's truly yours
Your entries are encrypted at rest and in transit. Only you can access them — not us, not advertisers, not AI training pipelines. Your data is never sold or shared.

Choose the minds you want thinking alongside you.

Pick your core team. Each guide responds to your journal entries from their unique perspective — honest, thoughtful, and never generic.

Refuge brings together the tools that support a grounded day — reflection, stillness, and awareness — in one quiet space.

Pattern Intelligence

You see the day. Refuge sees the arc.

Patterns emerge over weeks that you'd never notice on your own. Refuge reads across your entries to find the threads connecting your best and hardest days — then gives you the tools to act on what it finds.

Refuge Readings · March 2026
Positive Pattern
Your mood consistently lifts on days you journal before 9am. Morning entries score 35% higher in self-assessed wellbeing than evening ones.
Connection Found
Entries mentioning your partner became more positive after you started working with your ACT Guide three weeks ago. The shift is measurable.
Gentle Observation
You haven't written about the career change in 19 days, but stress markers related to work have increased in 6 of your last 8 entries. Sometimes what we avoid matters most.
Weekly Summary
This week: mood averaged 6.2 (up from 5.4). Sleep and socialization were your strongest positive factors. Two days without journaling preceded your lowest-rated day.

Your words stay yours

Why I built a journaling app that puts your privacy first.

I've spent my career in application security — companies hire me to find the weak spots in their software before someone else does. After years of seeing how apps really handle your data behind the scenes, I wanted to build a journaling tool I'd actually trust with my own thoughts. The honest ones, at 3am, about the things that actually keep me up.

I'm also a Buddhist practitioner of 17 years. The practice of honest self-examination is something I take seriously — and I believe it deserves a space that takes your privacy just as seriously.

Refuge is what I couldn't find anywhere else. I hope it becomes that for you too.
